UPC Mission: Christ’s Love in Action

UPC Mission Committee:

The Mission Committee strives to plan and implement God’s mandates to love each other and fight for justice. Efforts are made to balance local, regional/national, and international needs with interventions and support. Their action plan offers a wide menu of efforts that addresses and supports UPC’s mission of “Christ’s Love in Action.” The monthly Care Cart provides for a wide variety of local non-profit agencies while Marcia’s Closet collects “stuff” for the University of Wyoming’s International Student Giveaway and the Pine Ridge Reservation. UPC is the only church in Laramie that participates fully in the Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Other activities support volunteer services at the Downtown Clinic, sell critters for Heifer International, prepares Gifts from the Heart Emergency Kits, funds both adult and youth work trips, provides volunteers and other support for Hospice of Laramie, provided the Domestic Violence Program, SAFE, with picnic tables and playground equipment, provides gas and food cards to meet the emergency needs of “drop-ins,” and many other initiatives. Currently, activities are underway to implement with our faith partners the Family Promise program for homeless families with children and the Community Holidays program that provides a Christmas morning for the marginalized poor. Additionally, the Committee is responsible for the four yearly special offerings to PCUSA.
