Mission Initiates: United Presbyterian Church of Laramie

The United Presbyterian Church of Laramie (UPC) is committed to serve in a variety of ways including prayer. We address issues/needs not only locally but regionally/nationally, and internationally. The primary concerns of our congregation are food and shelter; consequently, we support the services of Interfaith of Albany County both financially and through participation. UPC’s Mission Committee supports the church’s annual fundraising effort for homeless services. We also join the community in supporting the Laramie Soup Kitchen. We are “hands on” working and contributing to Laramie’s Community Holidays Program as well as collecting soup for the Food Pantry on Souper Bowl Sunday. We partner with the Wind River Food Sovereignty Project (Shoshone) both financially and with much needed warm clothing. These efforts are currently being expanded to include Project 477 (Arapahoe) in their newly opened food pantry and clothing distribution center. UPC is a member of the Syria Lebanon Partnership Network and works closely with the Wyoming Presbytery in its efforts in those countries which has included services to refugee camps and a children’s clinic. This includes financial support and a series of workshops/luncheons on the issues/needs of this region. Responding to disasters through the Presbyterian Church USA (PCUSA) is augmented by our preparation of disaster “kits” (Gifts of the Heart). UPC continues to support the services, outreach, and disaster response efforts of PCUSA through its annual special offerings.
